Good food, great company and fab entertainment - that was the verdict on The Lions Club of Sydney Chinese Charity Ball, held on Saturday, 1 March at the Parkside Ballroom Sydney Convention and Exbition Centre, Darling Harbour. The event raised over $70,000 for the RFDS through auctions and raffles. The lucky winners scored a QANTAS Business Class return for 2 to Hong Kong, an 18ct yellow gold pendant from Linneys Pearls and two Beijing 2008 Olympic limited edition Omega 18ct gold watches. Four people also won the chance to spend a day at the Holsworthy Army Camp and fly in a Black Hawk helicopter!
Guests included President, RFDS SE Section John Gall OAM and Lynne Gall, RFDS Board members Mitty Davies and Michael Burgess and their partners, Dr Anthony Cheung, President Lions Club of Sydney Chinese, Lieutenant General Leahy AC, Chief of Army, RFDS supporters and volunteer speakers.
Net proceeds will be donated to the RFDS and announced in May. Thanks to everyone who attended and a special thanks to all the organisers and helpers.
