Mental Health Professionals

These Broken Hill based positions will be involved in the establishment and conduct of the Mental Health Services in Rural and Remote Areas Program
throughout far west NSW,
an area of 640,000 sq km which includes areas of remote NSW, SA and Qld.
CRITERIA
Essential
-
Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing with registration with the relevant Board of Registration in New South Wales;
or
-
Aboriginal Mental Health Worker/Aboriginal Health Worker qualification.

Two years post graduate experience;
or
-
Extensive experience in primary mental health care including counselling practice.

Knowledge of current mental health legislation
-
Knowledge of broad range of therapeutic assessment and intervention techniques.

Theoretical understanding of a broad range of mental health issues.
-
Knowledge of community development and capacity building concepts.
-
Ability to work in both team and individual situations under minimal supervision.

Drivers licence
Desirable
-
Post Graduate qualifications in relevant field.

Specialist skills/experience in child and youth mental health/drug and alcohol issues.

Understanding of cross cultural issues and rural/remote area issues, and experience working with remote clients in pastoral settings.

Ability to conduct mental health consultations by telephone, videoconference and web based media.
-
Expertise in the field of counselling.
