Before being allowed to operate RFDS aircraft on their own, our new recruits are trained by our Captains.
There is a four day theory course on our aircraft and operations which is followed by several hours in the air with a Training Captain.
When the Training Captain is confident that the new candidate is proficient with line flying operations, a Check Captain is called in to assess the pilot’s proficiency.
If he/she passes this test, then the new pilot is cleared to line.
Our pilots are routinely subjected to Line Checks as well as being checked twice yearly for proficiency and the renewal of their Instrument Rating.
