Since 1997, the South Eastern Section of the RFDS has enjoyed an academic partnership with the University of Sydney’s Department of Rural Health located at Broken Hill.
- the program offers a range of academic courses to over 300 students each year
- 50 clinical training placements are available annually for students from the program
- Capt Clyde Thomson, executive director of our SE Section, is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine, Broken Hill Campus
- three of our doctors at the Broken Hill Base divide their time between teaching at the Broken Hill Campus, maintaining a clinical practice in emergency medicine and attending primary health care clinics.
