As a not for profit charitable organisation, the Royal Flying Doctor Service relies on the generosity of companies, the community and individuals to continue providing extensive emergency and primary healthcare services.
Although we receive some government funding, this does not cover capital purchases such as vital medical equipment and aircraft which cost more than $8 million each to buy and modify into a flying intensive care unit. It also does not cover special health initiatives like our Fly Around Clinics and indigenous programs.
Therefore, each and every dollar donated to the RFDS, keeps us in the air and able to deliver lifesaving medical care to all those who are living, working and travelling in rural and remote Australia.
